A 68-year-old Ellicott City woman died early Monday of injuries she received Sunday night when a car hit the rear of a motorcycle she was riding on.
According to Howard County Police, Antonio Joseph Amato of the 4000 block of High Point Road was slowing down for a red light on eastbound U.S. 40 near Marriotsville Road around 8:10 p.m. when the 2005 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle was hit by a 2008 Honda Civic.
Cecilia Ann Amato, also of the 4000 block of High Point Road, was riding on the back of the motorcycle when it was hit. She was taken by ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she died from her injuries Monday morning, police said.
Antonio Joseph Amato is in stable condition at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
The driver of the Honda Civic, Alison Lesly Walsh, 22, of Owings Mills, was not injured. Investigation of the incident is continuing, police said.
