Art exhibit
Stitching Pretty Ltd., the Friends of Montpelier and the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission present this annual Needleart exhibit beginning Saturday, July 17, and continuing through July 30, at 9650 Muirkirk Road in Laurel. A reception will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 16. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission is $6, $5 for seniors and $3 for children. Information: 301-377-7817.
Family fun days
Visitors can explore the grounds of Montpelier Mansion, play games, do a craft, dress in old-fashioned clothes and take tours from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 18 and Aug. 1 at 9650 Muirkirk Road in Laurel. Concert series
The Montpelier Summer Concert Series continues Aug. 6 with Jennifer Rose & the Mixx playing country and rock music. These free two-hour concerts take place at 7:30 p.m. Fridays on the Montpelier Mansion grounds, 9652 Muirkirk Road in Laurel. Free parking is available at the Montpelier Drive and Muirkirk Road entrances off Route 197. Information: 301-776-2805.
Instructors needed
The South Laurel Recreation Council needs certified instructors to teach pilates, Zumba and tennis during summer classes in the Laurel area. Information: 301-776-2805.
Fun at the library
A "Picture Book Parade!" for ages 2-5 with an adult will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursdays at the Savage branch of the Howard County Library. The program includes a craft. Pajama Time, when children may wear pajamas and bring teddy bears and blankets, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays. The branch is at 9525 Durness Lane in Laurel. Information: 410-880-5980.
