Art exhibits
The Howard County Arts Council presents the "Resident Visual Artists Exhibit" and "Contrast & Symmetry" through June 19 at 8510 High Ridge Road, Ellicott City. Farm-City Committee Scholarship
The Howard County Farm-City Committee is offering a Farm-City Committee Scholarship of up to $500 to a Howard County high school senior for the fall semester. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has maintained academic excellence and whose efforts in agriculture have improved the county.
The student should be involved in education, agriculture, and community support. Interested students should complete an application, write a 1,000-word essay on how their studies will help the county, and supply a letter of recommendation, current high school transcript, and a resume with community activities, service projects, awards and work experience. Applications are due July 1.

Audition

Leadership awards
The Howard County Commission on Disability Issues seeks nominees for its annual leadership awards program to recognize outstanding efforts and promote the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and achieving independence through pursuing personal goals while living with a disability. The deadline to submit nominations is July 30.
Recycling cans
Habitat for Humanity has placed a collection bin for aluminum cans on the west side of Columbia at the entrance to the parking lot of Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church, 6410 Amherst Ave., in Allview Estates.

International Day vendors
The Columbia Association is seeking vendors and artisans for its annual Columbia International Day on July 24 at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront. This free event features live music and entertainment representing a variety of cultures, with food, crafts, children's activities and more. Applications are being accepted from those who wish to display or sell items with an international theme.

Teen vocalists and bands
The Columbia Association Teen Advisory Committee is seeking performers or groups to play at "Teen Tuesdays" at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront on Tuesdays from June 22 through July 27. Teen Tuesdays are part of the annual Lakefront Festival, which features outdoor concerts and movies during the summer.

Spanish speakers wanted
The Foreign Born Information and Referral Network, 5999 Harpers Farm Road, Suite 200-E, Columbia, needs Spanish-speaking volunteers to assist with client intake. Intake associates are responsible for greeting clients and answering telephone calls. They answer basic questions, make appointments and support the staff.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, but other times may be considered.

Recycle old TVs
The Howard County Bureau of Environmental Services reminds residents to recycle analog TVs rather than throw them away. Options available:
•The Alpha Ridge Landfill Resident's Convenience Area, 2350 Marriottsville Road, is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Saturday and accepts TVs, computers, keyboards, printers, scanners, laptops, VCRs, radios and other electronics.
• Best Buy's Customer Take-Back Program allows customers to bring in old TVs (32 inches or smaller) at no charge. Limited to two televisions per person per day. Console televisions are not accepted.
