Police have identified the man who was struck and killed Thursday night by a train in Ellicott City as a 41-year-old man who they believe was homeless. The accident happened around 8:45 p.m., approximately a half mile from the end of Maryland Avenue. Police identified the victim as Edwin Morrow of no fixed address. According to police, Morrow spent much of his time living around the Main Street area of Ellicott City.

After the accident, the train's engineer reported that he saw an unknown object in the tracks, but was unable to stop in time. The engineer reported striking someone in the tracks.

Detectives found alcohol in the victim's backpack and detected the smell of alcohol on the victim. Police found identification in Morrow's wallet.
