Linda J. Weinhardt, a former electrical engineer and a homemaker, died of cancer Jan. 8 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va. She was 41.
Linda Jane Zoller, the daughter of a lumberyard salesman and a homemaker, was born in Baltimore and raised in Ellicott City.
After graduating from Glenelg High School in 1986, she earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1990 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Mrs. Weinhardt was employed as an electrical engineer from 1990 to 1997 for LCC, an Arlington, Va., consulting firm.
"Her work took her to Germany and Australia," said her husband of nine years, Randall James "Randy" Weinhardt, an accountant with Sprint Nextel.
From 1997 until 2003, when she left to become a homemaker, Mrs. Weinhardt worked for Nextel Communications.
The Vienna, Va., resident was a member of the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network in Maryland and Virginia, and volunteered at the Vienna Baptist Children's Center and was a member of the PTA at Marshall Road Elementary School.
She enjoyed taking early-morning walks with neighbors and running with the Capitol Hill Runners.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Vienna.
Mrs. Weinhardt was also a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church, 9120 Frederick Road, Ellicott City, where services will be held at 11 a.m. today.
Also surviving are a son, Thomas J. Weinhardt, 4; a daughter, Susan J. Weinhardt, 7; her parents, Joseph and Dorcas Zoller of Ellicott City; a brother, James Zoller of Ellicott City; a sister, Ellen Hillsley of Ellicott City; two nephews; and three nieces.
