An early morning fire at an unoccupied house in Mount Airy drew response from four counties on Friday.
Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Services officials say that shortly after 1 a.m., firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the 1400 Block of Long Corner Road on the Howard County side of Mount Airy for a report of a fire.
Several neighbors had called 911 to report the fire in the unoccupied home. When firefighters arrived on the scene, heavy fire and smoke was visible and water was established at the bridge over the Patuxent River near the county line.
In all, more than 50 firefighters responded, including units from Howard as well as Carroll, Montgomery and Frederick counties.
Officials said there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The house is expected to be posted as uninhabitable later today.
Fire investigators from Howard's Fire Investigation Division were at the scene to identify the origin and cause of the fire. Damage estimates were not immediately determined.
