U.S. 29 in Columbia to close this weekend for power line removal

A section of U.S. 29 in Columbia will be temporarily closed overnight this weekend to allow for the removal of overhead power lines, the State Highway Administration said Tuesday.

Traffic on all lanes of the highway will halt between Route 32 and Route 175 for periods of up to 15 minutes between midnight and 2 a.m. on Sunday while BGE crews remove a power line that will be moved underground.

The power line removal will make way for new sound barriers and roadway widening, the SHA said. Maryland State Police will assist with the closures.
