CSX train engine room catches fire in Howard County

A fire broke out in the engine room of a moving CSX train carrying gravel in Howard County Thursday night, the fire department said.

Crews responded just before 8 p.m. to the fire, which was contained to the train when it stopped at Marriottsville Road near the Carroll County line, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

No injuries were reported. Marriottsville Road was temporarily shut down in the area, but it reopened shortly after 10 p.m. Firefighters from Howard County, Baltimore County and Carroll County brought the blaze under control in less than an hour.
