A Monday afternoon fire damaged a two-story townhome and smoke from the blaze caused minor damages to a neighboring unit in Ellicott City, fire officials said.
According to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, crews responded just before 4 p.m. Monday to the 4800 block of Dorsey Hall Drive, where they encountered fire in the rear of the home and smoke showing from a neighboring townhome.
Forty firefighters battled the blaze for about 30 minutes, preventing it from spreading from the first and second floors to the neighboring unit, according to a department release.
Fire investigators deemed the fire to be accidental, the release said.
There were no injuries and no residents were displaced. Those living in the home where the fire began were in the midst of moving, the release said.
