Clarksville auto shop catches fire Saturday

Vehicles, tires, waste fuel and gas containers caught fire behind a Clarksville auto parts shop Saturday, Howard County fire officials said.

About 70 firefighters from Howard and Montgomery counties were called at noon to Glory Days Auto Parts at 12046 Hall Shop Road and contained the fire in about 30 minutes.

A person who answered a number listed for the shop hung up when a reporter called. The shop's website describe it as a "U Pick It automotive salvage" with "100s of autos to choose from."

The shop is normally closed on weekends, according to its website.

Maryland Department of the Environment officials responded to help contain hazardous runoff from the waste oil involved in the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The origin and cause of the fire is being investigated.
