One man was killed and five others injured in a car crash late Friday in Mount Airy, Howard County Police reported.
James Nicholas Dejordy, 26, of Trotter Road, Clarksville, died when the vehicle he was in, a 2001 Ford F-350 pick-up truck, traveled off the road, overturned and struck a tree, according to police.
The accident occurred on Shaffersville Road between Shaffers Mill road and Long Corner Road at approximately 11:57 PM.
According to police, the other occupants in the vehicle were transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in stable condition. They have been identified as:
24 year old Devin Elaine Markowitz of the 2000 block Duvall Road, Woodbine.
23 year old Seth Stevens Jackson of the 4300 block Oakwood Landing Court, Dayton.
28 year old Karl Joseph Tomanek of the 1100 block Shaffersville Road, Mount Airy.
-- 33 year old Andrew Brooke Stabler of the 800 block of Beetz Road, Mount Airy.
-- 25 year old Jeffery Paul Feldblum of the 6700 block of Santa Lucia Drive, Highland.
Shaffersville Road was closed to traffic until 4:30 Saturday morning as part of the investigation.
Police did not say who was driving the vehicle when the accident occurred.
The case is being investigated by Officer Jeremy Duncan of the Traffic Enforcement Sections Collision Reconstruction Unit.
