Ellicott City residents displaced by flooding will be able to go to their homes on Wednesday, said Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman.
The visits will be between 12:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Kittleman said. Residents should meet at Saint Peters Episcopal Church, 3695 Rogers Ave. to register to be escorted by safety personnel.
"I know this has been difficult and we have been working hard to allow folks to return to their homes for essential possessions," Kittleman said. "These people have already experienced tremendous loss. We need to help them recover but it requires small steps. There is still a lot to stabilize and restore before a full recovery and clean up can begin."
Residents will be allowed to document damage and retrieve essential items in a container no larger than 18" high, 18" wide and 24" long. Visits will be limited to 10 minutes.
Residents should wear closed-toe footwear, such as a work boot or hiking boot, and long pants and long sleeved shirt. Work gloves, eye protection and flashlights are also encouraged.
