Motorcyclist critical after Ellicott City crash

A motorcyclist was in critical condition Saturday night after a crash involving an SUV in Ellicott City, Howard County police said.

Patrick James Moynihan, 20, of the 5200 block of Grovemont Drive in Elkridge, was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after his motorcycle struck an SUV, police said.

The crash happened about 2:30 p.m. in the area of Triadelphia Road and Walt Ann Drive. Moynihan was driving a 2008 Honda CBR 600RR motorcycle west when he struck a 2014 Ford Escape, driven by Allison Jeanette Walsh, 42, of West Friendship, according to police. Walsh was making a left turn onto Walt Ann Drive from west bound Triadelphia Road. She was not injured from the collision and remained at the scene.

Police said Moynihan was speeding and crossed the double yellow center line, passing another vehicle on Triadelphia Road just before the crash.

Triadelphia Road between Hunt Ridge and Walt Ann Drive was closed for about two and a half hours.

The traffic enforcement section was investigating.
