Two people were seriously hurt in a car crash in Elkridge early Sunday morning, Howard County police said.
A Volkswagen GTI was going eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 175 about 3:25 a.m. when it struck a Nissan Altima head-on, police said.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Michael Andrew Sullivan, 27, of Odenton was in serious but stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center on Sunday morning. A passenger in the Nissan, Zanaib Saeed Malik, 24, of Ellicott City, was taken to Shock Trauma and was listed as stable. The Nissan driver, Zulfekar Husan, 19, of Ellicott City, had non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police said they were investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Route 175 westbound was closed between Route 95 and Washington Boulevard for about four hours. It has since reopened.
