Three people were injured Saturday evening in a crash that closed a stretch of Route 32 in Clarksville for three hours.

The wreck occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m., Howard County police said. A Honda Civic was on the right shoulder of Route 32 eastbound when the driver tried to make a U-turn. The Honda was hit by a Ford F-250 pickup truck that was also driving east.

The driver of the Honda, 27-year-old Manal Elamir Abdalla of Woodlawn, and the passenger, 24-year-old Sara Kidane Hailu of Columbia, were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. They were in critical condition Saturday night.

The driver of the Ford, 34-year-old Jose Vicente Diaz Vargas of College Park, was not injured. The passenger in the Ford, 36-year-old Octavio Romero of Hyattsville, was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where he was in stable condition Saturday night.

No charges have been filed. Route 32 between Linden Church Road and Route 108 was closed in both directions Saturday night as police investigated the crash.
