Sports camps
The River Hill High School Boosters sponsors weekly summer camps at the school, 12101 Clarksville Pike in Clarksville. The camps begin June 15 and are designed to help young athletes improve fundamental skills. Times are 9 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. More than 20 sports are offered, including football, soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, field hockey, volleyball, basketball, cross country, track and field, cheerleading, weight training, wrestling and dance. Senior center
Glenwood Senior Center, 2400 Route 97 in Cooksville, offers the following events. Information: 410-313-5440:
Basketball 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (players must be at least 50).
Duplicate bridge 12:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
Sittercize This hourlong exercise program includes seated aerobics, stretching and strengthening drills, 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The cost is $36 for 18 classes.
Fit for Life exercises Participants do aerobics, strength training and abdominal work, 8:20 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. Fridays. $45 for 12 classes.
Painting and drawing An open studio will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays. Bring your own supplies. Free.
Pinochle 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Hatha yoga Classes in this Indian system of physical postures and breathing will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. $45 for eight classes.
Mah-jongg 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays.
Open studio 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays.
Silver Sneakers Walking Club The group is led by a staff member on an indoor track at 8:30 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. Everyone is invited.
Shoot pool Play pool from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Survivors meet A Reading for Life group for stroke survivors meets at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3. Discussion will be led by speech pathologist Jennifer Triandafilou. Cost is $40. Information: 410-313-5440.
Passport services
Passport application services are now available at the Howard County Library's Glenwood branch in addition to the East Columbia branch. Service is available from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. No service Fridays and Sundays. No appointment is necessary, and applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. For information, go to hclibrary.org.
