Relay for Life
Relay for Life of Western Howard County is holding a kickoff meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Glenwood Community Center, 2400 Route 97, Cooksville, to begin planning for the overnight walk-a-thon charity event benefiting the American Cancer Society in June. The public is invited to attend and learn about volunteer opportunities and to select a theme for this year's event. There will be a short ceremony honoring cancer survivors and caregivers. Sittercize The hourlong exercise program includes seated aerobics, stretching and strengthening drills, 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Cost is $36 for 18 classes.
Fit for Life exercises Participants do aerobics, strength training and abdominal work, 8:20 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. Fridays. $45 for 12 classes.
Painting and drawing A painting and drawing open studio will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays. Bring your own supplies. Free.
Hatha yoga Classes in this Indian system of physical postures and breathing will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. $45 for eight classes.
Silver Sneakers Walking Club The group is led by a staff member on an indoor track at 8:30 a.m. Mondays-Fridays. Everyone is invited.
Shoot pool Everyone is invited to shoot pool from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays-Fridays.
Senior hoops Players are welcome at 9 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
