Walk to Bethlehem

Glen Mar United Methodist Church will hold this annual event at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at 4701 New Cut Road. Led by guides, visitors will journey through outdoor settings where actors will re-enact the events leading to and immediately after Christ's birth. Afterward, go inside the church to sing carols led by Glen Mar choir members and visit a marketplace as it looked in Jesus' day. Free. Information: 410-465-4995.


Blue Christmas

Bethany United Methodist Church will hold a service to help those who have lost a loved one, a friend, a job, experienced divorce or illness, or are lonely at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2875 Bethany Lane. All are welcome. Information: 410-465-2919.


Festival of trains

The B&O Railroad Station Museum's annual Holiday Festival of Trains is on exhibit through Jan. 26 at 2711 Maryland Ave. The exhibit includes a multilevel LEGO layout with interactive lights, motors and sounds, a Thomas the Tank G-scale layout, children's push-button layout and an N-scale layout. Art exhibits

The Howard County Arts Council presents two exhibits through Friday, Dec. 13, in the galleries at the Howard County Center for the Arts, 8510 High Ridge Road. In Gallery I is the biennial multimedia juried exhibit "Art HoCo 2013," featuring more than 50 works by 39 Howard County artists. "Complex Transformations" in Gallery II features works of mixed-media by Allie Rex, Eric Standley and Alice Whealin. Information: 410-313-2787.

English conversation The Miller branch of the Howard County Public Library, 9421 Frederick Road, offers "Let's Get Together: English Conversation Club," a chance for those for whom English is a second language to practice speaking and understanding English in a group setting. Concert The Marriott's Ridge Women's Ensemble performs its holiday concert at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19.

Brain Fitness Instructor Robin Zahor leads a class on how to keep the mind sharp and improve cognitive performance at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19.

Fabulous 50 + Players Group presents "Our Hit Parade," favorite songs through the decades, at noon Friday, Dec. 20. $5 admission includes a pizza lunch.

Qi Gong Jessica Koch leads students in a class that consists of a series of gentle movements synchronized with breathing that promotes energy movement through the body. Classes will be held Jan. 10 through March 14. Cost is $58.
