Art exhibits

The Howard County Arts Council presents the exhibits, "Building Perspectives" by Ashley DuRoss, Lillian Hoover, Robert Tennenbaum, April Rimpo and K. Velis Turan in Gallery I, and "Kaleidoscope" by Katie Chen in Gallery II, Sept. 5-Oct. 17 at 8510 High Ridge Road in Ellicott City. Baseball tryouts

The HCYP Raiders will hold tryouts for its 10U travel baseball teams from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, on Field 3 at Kiwanis-Wallis Park, 3300 Norbert's Way. Candidate meeting

Allan Kittleman, Republican candidate for Howard County executive, will hold a town hall meeting from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the Howard County Library's Elkridge branch, 6540 Washington Blvd. Information: 443-831-4033.

Knitting and crocheting

Volunteers 55 and older are needed to knit afghans, blankets, baby wear and other items for local charities, hospitals and senior centers at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Kiwanis Wallas Recreation Center, 3300 Norberts Way, Ellicott City. Outdoor movies

Soccer registration

The co-ed Elkridge Youth Organization fall soccer program is accepting registrations for ages 4-18. No tryouts are required, and all players receive substantial playing time.
