Anniversary celebration Howard Community College hosts a 20th anniversary celebration of Maryland's Sister States relationship with Leningrad province of Russia at 4 p.m. in Monteabaro Recital Hall, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia. Free event features Russian folk music performed by members of Metelitsa, St. Petersburg's state orchestra of Russian folk instruments. Maryland and Leningrad province entered into a Sister States relationship in 1993, with the aim to promote cooperation in "business and industry, culture, education, agriculture, technology, environmental protection and tourism." Child care information fair Howard County's Department of Citizen Services Preschool/Child Care Information Fair, "Children On Board," will be held from 1 p.m to 4 p.m. Jan. 26 at Ten Oaks Ballroom, 5000 Signal Bell Lane in Clarksville. Admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to the Howard County Food Bank. Fair will provide parents, guardians, grandparents and child care personnel with information on child care, preschool and summer programs, as well as the opportunity to talk with teachers and program directors. Representatives from community service organizations that offer programs and services to the county's youngsters will also attend.
