Benefit gala Howard Hospital Foundation holds its annual "Autumn Extravaganza: A Harvest of Hope" from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Fretz Corp., 9204 Berger Road, Suite H in Columbia. The event benefits Howard County General Hospital's Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center. Food will be provided by Carrabba's Italian Grill, complemented with wines donated by Axios Wines. South Asia Culture Cafe The cultures of six South Asian countries will be represented and celebrated at an event sponsored by the Columbia Association and the Howard County Library System from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the library's Miller branch, 9421 Frederick Road in Ellicott City. The free event isn't just for those from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka, but for anyone interested in South Asian culture.
