Charity 10K and 5K run The 11th annual Ellicott City Labor Day Running Classic 10K and 5K (formerly the Knights of Columbus 10K Run) will take place beginning 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Shrine of St. Anthony, 12290 Folly Quarter Road. Annual event is presented by the Knights of Columbus St. Louis the King Council 11898 of St. Louis Parish in Clarksville, and helps support local charities, including the Arc of Howard County. Auditions Columbia Pro Cantare is holding auditions for all parts for its 38th season. Among the works to be performed with soloists and orchestra are Rossini's "Petite Messe Solennelle," Handel's "Messiah," Amy beach's "Grand Mass in E-Flat Major," and music from the "Great American Songbook." Charity walk The Glen Mar Family 5K and 1-Mile Walk will be held beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. Participants will meet at Glen Mar United Methodist Church, 4701 New Cut Road in Ellicott City. Cost for either course is $25 for those who register on or before Sept. 15 and $30 after Sept. 15. 5K registrants can sign up to participate as individuals or in teams of three or more.
