'Babe Ruth's Bat' The Howard County Historical Society hosts a chance to see — and be photographed with — Babe Ruth's 1927 record-setting home run bat beginning at 7 p.m. at the Howard County Library's Miller branch, 9421 Frederick Road in Ellicott City. Ballpark food and drink will be served. Tickets are $20 per person, $15 for society members. The event is co-sponsored by the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum. Information: 410-480-3250.

Festival The 20th annual Howard County Pow-Wow/American Indian Show and Festival, featuring American Indian dancers, singers, drummers, artists, crafters and food, takes place this weekend at the Howard County Fairgrounds, 2210 Fairgrounds Road in West Friendship. Children's activities include pony rides, bow and arrow shooting, face-painting, crafts and storytelling. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 14. Cabaret series Devron Young opens the summer cabaret series with "One Night Only" at 7:30 p.m. at the Drama Learning Center, 9130-I Red Branch Road in Columbia. 'Fairy Houses: Magic in the Woods' Free children's program will be held at 10 a.m. at the Howard County Conservancy, 10520 Old Frederick Road in Woodstock. Children can build dwellings for the fairies living in the conservancy's woodlands and stream edges. There will be bark, twigs, cones and nuts available to be used as construction materials. The conservancy will photograph the homes and tree-side villages the children build and add those images to the "Fairy House Memory Book" on the conservancy's classroom display table. Concert The Maryland All State Community Band will perform its first ever concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at River Hill High School, 12101 Route 108 in Clarksville. The band is under the direction of Harlan Parker of the Peabody Conservatory and will perform "Evokatah" by Mike Mogensen, "La Quintessenza" by Johan de Meij, "October" by Eric Whitacre, "Children's March" by Percy Grainger and more. After an audition, musicians from 16 Maryland Community Bands were chosen as members of the ensemble. Admission is free. Information: 301-793-0209.
Reggae music The Howard County Historical Society presents "Acoustic Reggae with Scotty P" from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 29 at 8328 Court Ave. in Ellicott City.
