A caretaker at an Ellicott City assisted living facility has been charged with abusing an elderly resident, Howard County police said Wednesday.

Christina Renee Randall, a 26-year-old Baltimore woman, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and abuse of a vulnerable adult after video footage showed her abusing a 93-year-old Alzheimer's patient in her care at Lighthouse Senior Living on North Ridge Road, according to police.

The victim's family, concerned about his well-being, set up a camera in his room, which showed Randall pushing and striking the man, who developed bruises on his torso and arm, police said. After seeing the footage, family members turned it over to the police department.

Randall was arrested at home without incident, and has been released on $7,500 bail, according to police.
