Best Garden Center/Nursery: The Mill

At The Mill in Bel Air, no yard is too big or small. Whether customers are outfitting a large working farm or a tiny backyard plot, The Mill has the right supplies for the job.

“We have the ability to [fulfill] all needs for the production of any type of plant or animal,” says owner Henry Holloway. “We’re soup to nuts, whether you have a single pansy sitting on a counter in your kitchen or you’re growing five acres of corn. Whether you’re feeding wild birds in the backyard or a Kentucky Derby winner.”
Holloway’s family has been farming for generations, and everyone on staff has some type of gardening, farming or animal experience. Each understands the ins and outs of Harford County land.
“I was born and bred here, and it’s a beautiful part of the country,” says Holloway. “We’ve got all four seasons — in a big way — and we’re close to water and mountains. Harford County is home.”
