The Edgewood Rams and Havre de Grace Warriors both improved to 2-0 Friday night, while teams from Aberdeen, North Harford and C. Milton Wright all got their first wins.

In Havre de Grace, the Warriors jumped ahead early and despite a big play by Joppatowne late in the half, rolled to an 34-6 win. The loss dropped Joppatowne to 0-2.

Warriors quarterback Mike Flosser ran 11 yards for the game's first score and added a 12-yard passing touchdown to Knowledge Johnson as well to extend the lead to 14-0 early in quarter two.

"Joppatowne brought an even front with a noseguard and we thought we could attack with quarterback runs and passes down the field and that's exactly what we did," Flosser said. He ended with 81 yards on seven carries and 59 yards passing.

Will Ashman added a 75-yard kickoff return to open the second half of play and it was a big play as Joppatowne pulled off its biggest play late in the first half.

"Right there at halftime we noticed the kicker didn't really have much of a leg, so coach decided to change it up," Ashman said. "We usually go right or left, we decided to go right up the middle and obviously it paid off, the blockers went well, right to the touchdown."

Joppatowne's big play produced the Mariners lone score. Rodney Scott, Jr. scooped up a fumble and raced 82 yards for the score. The extra-point was blocked.

Following Ashman's big return, Havre de Grace was back in business on a Sean Greeley fumble recovery at the Joppatowne 24-yard line. Two runs covering 19 yard by Jasia Stansbury (14 carries, 106 yards) made it first and goal at the five.

Stansbury's next carry took him to the one, but he fumbled the ball into the end zone. Alertly, lineman Connor Gorham fell on the ball for the touchdown.

Leading through three quarters, 28-6, Havre de Grace added 10 more points in the final quarter. Clay Harris, who was good on all five point-after-kicks, added a 31-yard field goal, too.

Tyler Malloy closed the scoring with a 4-four yard run, set up by a Greeley interception. Luke Smith also had an interception in the final minute and his return took him inside the Mariners 10-yard line, where the Warriors kneeled twice to run out the clock.

"We have a young team, we have a lot of guys out here, as you know from last year, we went pretty far in the season," Havre de Grace Coach Brian Eberhardt said. "I wouldn't say this is one of our cleanest wins, we do have some athletes that are able to change the game for us at any given time, which is nice to have."
