Harford County's Class 1A-2A golfers had a little more success Tuesday than the 3A-4A players did Monday at the Maryland State Golf Tournament semifinals in College Park.
Fallston shot a team score of 357, which was good enough for fourth place and advancement to Wednesday's final round. The Cougars edged Smithsburg (358) for the spot. Marriotts Ridge led Tuesday's team scoring with 324.
The final round starts at 9 a.m. at the University of Maryland-College Park Golf Course.
Senior Dylan Wolf led the Fallston scoring, shooting a score of 80. Other contributing players were Everett Cox, 85; Dayton Ogrysko, 95; and Josh Sacker, 97.
Patterson Mill had a good day, shooting 360 as a team. Although the score didn't get the Huskies advanced as a team, Michael Montgomery shot a team-best round of 82 to qualify as an individual for the final round.
The Huskies other players were Sean Powers, 90; Paula Moon, 91; and Alec Michaels, 97.
Harford Tech also played as a team, but a score of 380 was not low enough for advancement. Tech's players were Josh Kopeck, 87; Ryan Shuck, 91; Loy Clements, 95; and Adam Haviland, 107.
Aberdeen's Mitchell Hardin will also play in Wednesday's final round after shooting 82 in Monday's play. It was shown Monday that Hardin had shot 80, but Aberdeen coach Patrick Mull says there was confusion and Hardin officially shot 82. Two strokes, luckily, didn't keep the senior from missing the final round.
Also in Tuesday's play, Perryville's Jordyn Pollitt shot 90 and did not advance. Elkton's Genesis Diaz shot 84 and did advance to Wednesday's final round.
