CMW swimmers melt Icicle Meet competition

C. Milton Wright swimmers cruised to an easy victory over 10 other teams in Friday's 2015 Icicle Invitational at the Magnolia Middle School pool.

The Mustangs, with 283 points, weren't threatened. Kent Island was second with 218 points and Patterson Mill was third with 212.

The rest of the field was Havre de Grace fourth with 182, North Harford with 158, Edgewood with 153, Fallston with 145, Harford Tech with 139, John Carroll with 51, Joppatowne with 32 and Frederick Douglass with 17.

CMW won 13 of the 19 relay races, including the first seven, and finished second in the races it didn't win until the last event. Kent Island won the girls 400 medley relay and North Harford's team of Perri Friedel, Rachel Beichler, Kate Anderson and Emily Catrambone was second.

CMW's winning relay team members are Jake Schafer, Tyler Kosar, Charlie Musante, Wayne Walker, Lauren Rutherford, Laila Hanson, Anne Capozzoli, Bri Stamper, Griffith Scarborough, Jacob Wright, Ryan Baldino, Olivia Thrush, Ariana Ritchie, Julia Walsh, Matthew Youn, Elizabeth Ehrhardt, Molly Jordan, Rachel Pellegrino, Travis Hruz and Ryan Brownfield.

Patterson Mill was the first team other than CMW to win a race, with a victory in the 200-yard mixed medley when its team of Annie Tompkins, Lydia Elchick, Jack Leary and Luke Holloway touched the wall with a time of 1:57.57. C. Milton Wright's Julia Walsh, Tyler Kosar, Griffith Scarborough and Anne Capozzoli were second at 1:59.82.

Patterson Mill also won the 13th race as Tompkins, Cate Mueller, Jessica Bujack and Elchick finished the 200 yard breaststroke relay in 2:29.07. CMW's Laila Hanson, Ariana Ritchie, Elizabeth Ehrhardt and Molly Jordan finished in 2:34.39.

Havre de Grace won the boys 200 butterfly relay as the team of Sean Allen, Alexander Caron, Zac Orzewicz and Ryan Burkhardt finished in 1:51.90. The Warriors also won the girls 200 free relay as Keynilie Pagan-davila, Sarah Frick, Jillian Laakso and Karli Chancey finished in 2:00.62.
