Aberdeen can't score, loses again at Staten Island, 4-0

After three straight nights of walk-off baseball, the Aberdeen IronBirds tried to salvage a win Thursday in the final game at Staten Island. No such luck.

Staten Island shut the IronBirds out, 4-0, to complete the three-game sweep. The loss dropped the IronBirds to 27-37.

Timmy Robinson hurt the IronBirds again, singling in the first run in the first inning and then doubling in another in the Yankees two-run third inning. The final run was scored in the sixth.

Cole Billingsley had two hits to lead Aberdeen, while Austin Hays and Chris Clare each hit a double. Mike Odenwaelder added a pinch hit single.

Aberdeen starter Lucas Humpal (0-2) suffered the loss, giving up seven hits and three earned runs over three innings of work. He walked a batter and also struck out one.

Aberdeen is back home Friday to begin a three-game series with Hudson Valley. Friday's game is an 7:05 p.m. start. The IronBirds and Renegades will play again Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday at 5:35 p.m.
