Aberdeen snaps four game skid with 8-2 win at Batavia

The Aberdeen IronBirds, coming off a three-game sweep by Brooklyn and losers of four straight, pounded out nine hits en route to an 8-2 New York-Penn League win Thursday over the Batavia Muckdogs.

Aberdeen (11-16) got started early, scoring twice in the opening inning and with a little aid from Batavia. Cole Billingsley drew a leadoff walk and Jason Heinrich was safe on one of Batavia's four errors. Ronarsy Ledesma doubled in Billingsley with the first run and Chris Shaw's single plated Heinrich.

The IronBirds added back-to-back three-run innings to blow the game wide open. The first three came across in third, the first two courtesy of Shaw's two-run home run. It was his second of the season. Mike Odenwaelder doubled in Collin Woody, aboard with a single, with the third run.

The "Birds added three more in the fourth. A Kirvin Moesquit leadoff single fueled the rally. Consecutive walks to Billingsley and Heinrich loaded the bases. Alejandro Juvier grounded out, forcing Heinrich out at second, but Moesquit scored on the play.

With Ledesma batting, Juvier stole second base and while that happened, Billingsley and Juvier scored after Batavia first baseman Eric Gutierrez was charged with fielding and throwing errors on the same play.

Three IronBirds pitchers took care of the rest. Lucas Humpal threw the first three scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk, while striking out four. Cody Dube (1-0) earned the win, despite being responsible for both Batavia runs.

Dube pitched three and two-third innings, giving up two hits and two runs. He also struck out four. Steven Klimek came on to finish and over two and a third innings struck out six of the seven batters faced without giving up a hit

Bilingsley, Woody and Shaw each had two hits to pace the offense.
