The Aberdeen IronBirds are on fire!

The 'Birds swept their second straight series, winning at Hudson Valley, 5-3, Monday night. It was Aberdeen's sixth consecutive win, improving the IronBirds to 8-5.

Aberdeen will return home Tuesday night to battle the Lowell Spinners in a July 4 spectacular. The 6:05 p.m. start will be followed by an awesome fireworks show.

In Monday's win, pitcher Brenan Hanifee improved to 3-0. Hanifee, who wasn't quite as sharp as in his previous two starts, was still strong enough to win.

Hanifee gave up two earned runs on five hits and three walks over six innings (73 pitches). He struck out one.

Max Knutson gave up the other run, also earned, over one inning of work. Scott Burke and Reed Hayes (save) pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings for the 'Birds.

The two teams traded runs over the first four inings, with Hudson Valley scoring single runs in the odd innings and Aberdeen in the even.

The game stayed 2-2 into the seventh, where Aberdeen scored twice. Trevor Craport and Ryan Ripken each hit RBI singles in the inning.

The IronBirds also scored a run in the eigth, as did Hudson Valley to finalize the score.

Jean Carrillo (run) and Markel Jones (2 RBI) had two hits each to pace the 10-hit attack.

Zach Jarrett had a hit and two runs scored and Jaylen Ferguson added a hit and RBI.
