The Aberdeen IronBirds saw their four-game win streak come to an end Friday night at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.

Despite scoring in the first inning for the fifth straight game, Aberdeen (17-13) fell 4-1 to the Vermont Lake Monsters in New York-Penn League play.

The 'Birds and Lake Monsters will close out the series at 6:05 p.m. tonight. Aberdeen will then head to Brooklyn for a three-game set, Sunday through Tuesday.

The IronBirds lone run came when Ben Breazeale reached on an error and Ryan Ripken singled him home. Ripken led the Aberdeen offense with a 3-for-4 effort, raising his average to .304.

Trevor Craport also had multiple hits, with two, but the 'Birds were unable to do any further damage on the scoreboard.

Aberdeen starter Brenan Hanifee, meanwhile, was doing what he's been doing; getting batters out.

That's just what he did for six innings before the wheels came off the cart. Hanifee, who had allowed just three hits through six innings, gave up three straight with one out in the seventh.

Hanifee (4-1) was tagged with the loss, his first of the season. He allowed six hits and three earned runs, while striking out five.
