For the third straight night, the Aberdeen IronBirds found themselves in a walk-off baseball game Wednesday. For the second consecutive night, it was a loss in Staten Island, with the 'Birds falling to the Yankees, 8-7.
Aberdeen (27-36) fell behind 5-0 after an inning of play, but battled back and with two runs in the seventh and a run in the eighth, took a 7-6 lead.
Staten Island, however, was not to be denied and IronBirds killer, aka Timmy Robinson, did the honors, driving in the winning runs with a single, his third hit of the game. Robinson also homered.
Preston Palmeiro led the IronBirds, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBIs. Kirvin Moesquit added two hits.
Cody Sedlock had his toughest outing of the season, giving up five runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk. He struck out four over three innings.
The IronBirds play in Staten Island again Thursday, before coming home to Aberdeen Friday to begin a three-game series with Hudson Valley. Friday's game is an 7:05 p.m. start.
