A night after winning a 1-0 New York-Penn League baseball game in Brooklyn, the Aberdeen IronBirds (17-25) dropped a game by the same count Monday, losing at Brooklyn, 1-0.Despite outhitting Brooklyn, 5-4, Aberdeen failed to score, while the Cyclones pushed across the game-deciding run in the fourth. Peter Alonso's two-out RBI double took care of the scoring.Kirvin Moesquit had two of the five hits, which were all singles. Alejandro Juvier, Preston Palmeiro and Mike Odenwaelder had the other hits.Alex Wells (3-4) took the hard-luck loss, pitching five innings. Wells gave up three hits and the earned run, leaving his ERA at a solid 2.06. He walked one and struck out five.The IronBirds play again in Brooklyn Tuesday, before coming back to Aberdeen to face the Tri-City ValleyCats Wednesday through Friday. All games are 7:05 p.m. starts.Sunday shutoutAberdeen got a nice, combined pitching effort in Brooklyn on Sunday that resulted in a 1-0 shutout win for the IronBirds.Kegan Akin threw the first three hitless innings, walking three and striking out five. Yi-Hsiang Lin (2-0) pitched the next two innings, also hitless, walking one and striking out one.Tyler Erwin tossed the next two, giving up the first hit and striking out three, while Steven Klimek pitched the final two for his first save. Klimek allowed one hit and struck out a batter.Jaylen Ferguson scored the game's lone run in the fifth, with Guillermo Salas delivering the sacrifice fly. The IronBirds had three hits, all singles by Kirvin Moesquit, Preston Palmeiro and Mike Odenwaelder.
