The Aberdeen IronBirds came back home Tuesday night, riding its six-game win streak.
Well, make it seven in a row and a streak of four at home after the 'Birds (9-5) beat the Lowell Spinners, 4-2, at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.
Ryan Ripken singled and scored twice, both times driven in by Irving Ortega, who also had two hits, including a double.
Catcher Ben Breazeale also had two hits, highlighted by the big swing of the night. Breazeale capped the IronBirds scoring with a two-run, home run in the fifth inning that gave the team a 4-0 lead.
While the offense has gotten hot over this stretch, the pitching has been superb and it was on point again Tuesday.
Starter and winner Tobias Myers (2-0) was strong. Myers worked six innings, allowing one hit and a walk, while strikng out eight.
Reliever Cameron Ming got touched up for a run on two hits and a walk over an inning and a third. Zach Matson gave up the other run in two-thirds of an inning, while James Teague came on to strike out the final batter for his second save.
Ruben Garcia also pitched two-thirds of an inning, striking out both batters.
The IronBirds are back in action tonight (Wednesday) at 7:05 p.m. versus Lowell. Fireworks will follow the game.
The IronBirds added two more pitchers from the 2017 MLB draft. Josh Keaton (10th round, Adams State) and Jimmy Murphy (8th round, Fordham).
