A pair of Harford Community College women's soccer players were named NJCAA Division I All-Americans. Nicole Wojcik(John Carroll) earned Second-Team honors whileKarley Bushwas named to the Honorable Mention Team.
Wojcik and Bush are the second duo to earn All-American honors under head coachJason Muffoletto, and the seventh and eighth players to earn the honor in program history, all under Muffoletto's tutelage.The pair helped guide the Fighting Owls to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament last month after winning the MD JUCO Championships, the Region XX Championships and the District L Championships.
Wojcik totaled 19 goals and 11 assists from the midfield position for the Fighting Owls. She assisted Bush on the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win in the Region XX Championship match and the 3-2 win in the District L Championship match. During the opening contest of the NJCAA National Tournament, Bush assisted on Wojcik's game winner in the 86th minute to give Harford a 3-2 victory for their 15th win of the season. The sophomore ranked 25th in the nation with 49 points, and her goals, assists and point totals all ranked second in the region.
Bush led the conference and region and ranked sixth in the nation with 27 goals while ranking ninth with 61 points. She had six multiple goal contests, including three hat tricks and two other four-goal contests. The sophomore scored the first goal of the NJCAA National Tournament win over Otero, off an assist from Wojcik. She netted five game winners, including the Region XX and District L Championships. She also netted the equalizer in the eventual 3-2 double overtime loss to eventual National Champion Monroe College to force overtime.
Wojcik and Bush become the first All-Americans since Audrey Baldwin earned Second-Team honors in 2011. Bush becomes just the second Fighting Owl to earn All-American honors in two different sports (Women's Soccer in Fall 2014 and Women's Lacrosse in Spring 2014). Erin Lynn was named All-American for the same two sports in 2010 and 2011.
