Bel Air wins third consecutive Harford golf championship

For the third straight year, the Bel Air golf team won the Harford County Golf Championship. The win came Thursday at Geneva Farm Golf Course where the Bobcats, led by individual champion Tyler Newton, shot 495 to win.

Fallston was runner-up at 526 and Patterson Mil was third at 529. The remainder of the field was North Harford, 534; C. Milton Wright, 546; Edgewood, 575; Harford Technical, 582; and Aberdeen, 592. Havre de Grace and Joppatowne did not start because they didn't have enough players.

Newton backed up his second district title win from a few weeks back to shoot 75 on Thursday. Aberdeen's Mitchell Hardin was the runner-up with 77.

Rounding out the top 10 were Bel Air's Kevin Morrissey, 80; Patterson Mill's Sean Powers, 80; Fallston's Dylan Wolf, 80; Bel Air's Cody Smith, 81; Fallston's Everett Cox, 81; Edgewood's Connor Johnson, 81; North Harford's Sam VanValkenberg, 83; C. Milton Wright's Matt Smith, 84; and Bel Air's Connor Small, 84.

Bel Air also had the girls champion with Spencer Comitz shooting 85. Patterson Mill's Samantha Barnett was second with 96.

Evan Ripple shot 90 to aid in the Bobcats winning score.

The course was wet, but playable, according to John Evans, C. Milton Wright's coach.
