Harford County high school golfers got in their last swings Thursday, preparing for Tuesday's District VII Golf Tournament which was to decide which players and teams advance to next month's Maryland State Tournament.The district tourney was to be played Tuesday at Geneva Farm Golf Course in Street.In Thursday's tri-match at Maryland Golf and Country Clubs, Aberdeen shot 225 to beat C. Milton Wright, 236, and Perryville, 251.Mitchell Hardin fired a match low round of 37 to lead Aberdeen. David Fulp added a 45, while Hunter Schiesser and Edward Honadel both shot 47. Ryan Feathers added a 49 for the Eagles.Mitch Weaver shot 44 to pace CMW and Ethan Hauer shot 46. Michael Cummings, 47, Talen Lurz, 49, and Alex Mattes, 50, also scored for the Mustangs.Perryville's Jordyn Pollitt led the Panthers, shooting 46.Kopeck leads TechThe Harford Tech Cobras defeated the North Harford Hawks in an exciting two-hole playoff at Exton Golf Course on Thursday.Both teams were tied at 204 after the match. Jake Nemeth (North Harford) and Josh Kopeck (Tech) were picked from their respective teams to play in the playoff. Both players shot a par on hole number one, the first playoff hole.The second playoff hole was number nine. Both players had good drives with less than 70 yards to the pin. Nemeth put his shot in the green side bunker and Kopeck put his shot about 3 feet from the hole.Nemeth, knowing he probably had to hole out to force a tie, hit a great sand shot that hit the pin but didn't drop. Kopeck then made his 3-foot birdie putt to win the match.The Cobras were led by Kopeck's 36. Other Cobras scoring were Ryan Shuck, 39; Loy Clements, 41; Adam Haviland, 41; and Noah Lloyd, 47.The Hawks were led by Curtis Jackson, who shot the low round of 35 on the day. Other Hawk notables were Nemeth, 40; Derek McManus, 41; Zach Karcher, 43; and Jake Zdon, 45.Aaron Tavares, the lone golfer on the Joppatowne Mariners team, shot a 57. Tavares is a true freshman who never played until this season and improved 14 strokes from his previous outing.Cougars winFallston was back in the win column Thursday at Mountain Branch Golf Course. The Cougars shot 215 to beat Bo Manor, 219, and North East, 254.Dylan Wolf led the Cougars with 39 and Dayton Ogrysko shot 42. Other Cougars scoring were Everett Cox, 43; Colby Ogrysko, 45; and Michael Corona, 46.Bo Manor's Hunter Tollinger shot a match-low round of 38 to lead the Eagles.Nick Coleman shot 46 as North East's best player.Bobcats win, tooPlaying at Chesapeake Bay-Rising Sun Golf Course, Bel Air shot 234 to beat Rising Sun, 271. Edgewood participated with two players, but not enough for a team score.Evan Ripple shot 42 to pace the Bobcats, while other scorers were Nick Daristotle, 47; Ryan Menchen, 48; Josh Stocum, 48; and Jake Bowen, 49.Trent Moore was Rising Sun's to player, shooting 49.Despite no team, Edgewood's Ethan Bowlin shot 40, the low round of the match. Philip Irving added a 56 for the Rams.
