Harford County girls high school soccer teams have been preparing for the upcoming season. Here is a look at each team

Bel Air

Head coach: Josh Ruggiero (second season)

2017 record: 14-5

Outlook: “I see this year being a foundation building year for us. Not a rebuilding because we have a good bit of senior experience, but because of the youth movement that is being integrated,” coach Ruggiero said. “We’ve got balance and depth all over the field and that’s exciting. I see us competing at the top with many other teams in the UCBAC. It’s going to be competitive and that is a lot of fun.”

C. Milton Wright

Head coach: Rebecca Volk (first season)

2017 record: 8-6-2

Outlook: “Our team has a lot of senior leadership this season with great work ethic. The younger players have stepped up to match their intensity and focus, and as a group the desire to learn and develop is top notch,” coach Volk said. “We’re on a mission this year to improve on last year’s record and give the seniors a memorable final season.

2017 record: 9-5-1

Outlook: “We are hoping to improve upon last years record. We have a great group of girls that are working hard and getting better every day,” coach Rankin said.


Head coach: Carlie Chatterton (second season)

2017 record: 10-7-2

Outlook: We have been able to revamp our lineup with strong talent from the incoming freshman class,” coach Chatterton said. “Being a fairly young team means we will rely on our core group of returners to carry us through, what we hope is a very successful season.”

Harford Tech

Head coach: Matt Berg (13th season)

2017 record: 5-6-4

Outlook: “I like this team a lot this year. We have a lot of returning talent and some key upgrades, especially in the back half of the field,” coach Berg said. “If we can stay healthy and work selflessly every practice and game, we will make some noise this season.”

Havre de Grace

Outlook: This group is well-led, boasting seven seniors and three All-Conference team members (Burch, Scannell, Christopher). After a busy summer and successful preseason, the Patriots look to be a top contender in the newly aligned IAAM ‘A’ conference this year.

North Harford

Outlook: The Hawks are looking forward to the 2018 season with 18 returning players.

Patterson Mill
