Edgewood, Bel Air girls open lacrosse season with wins

The Edgewood girls lacrosse team opened its season with a win Monday, beating visiting Patapsco, 15-1, in a non-league game postponed from Friday. The Rams led 12-1 at the half.

Riley Johnson and Paige Graff led the scoring with three goals each. Seven others also scored in the win.

Bobcats win, too

Bel Air also opened in the win column Monday, edging visiting Episcopal Academy, 11-9, in non-league play.

Julia Henry, Grace Wehland, Lauren Asher and Maggi Hall each scored two goals to highlight the win. Single goals were scored by Caroline Fallace, Ava Goeller and Gabby Trzeciak.

Henry also had two assists, while single assists were credited to Wehland, Trzeciak and Asher.

Bel Air got strong defense from Gabi Hall and Megan Dee and Maggi Hall had a game-high five draw controls.

Bel Air goalie Chelsea Gostomski made seven saves.

Katie Crager led Episcopal scoring with three goals.

Other Monday scores

C. Milton Wright went on the road and won at Perry Hall, 16-3, while Fallston traveled to Dulaney and lost, 13-4. Stats were not provided for either game.

Patriots roll

John Carroll (2-0) opened its home schedule with an 13-7 win over Severn on Friday.

Molly Lynch and Lexi Burch led the scoring with three goals each, while Reilly Cisar had two goals and two assists.

Maddy Sterling also scored twice, while single goals were scored by Katie Hormes (three caused turnovers), Erin Scannell and Kaitlyn Sydnor (two assists).

Goalie Emily Sterling finished with six saves and two caused turnovers.

Huskies lose

Patterson Mill lost at Towson, 12-6, on Friday.

Goalie Faith Treptow had eight saves.

Postponements

Many girls lacrosse games were postponed Friday and most have new dates and times (all P.M.). They are Aberdeen at North Harford (4/16, 6:45); Harford Tech at Loch Raven (4/25, 6:30); and Havre de Grace at Perryville (4/3, 7). North East at Fallston was also postponed with no new date.
