Six county girls lacrosse teams opened the region playoffs Wednesday and teams from C. Milton Wright, Havre de Grace and North Harford were each winners by lopsided margins.
CMW (8-6) shut out visiting Aberdeen (1-10), 23-0, in Class 2A-3A North, Section II play, where North Harford (8-7) also beat visiting Edgewood (4-7), 14-3. Havre de Grace (5-7), meanwhile, rolled over visiting Joppatowne (1-7), 21-3, in 1A-2A North, Section I play.
In CMW's win, the Mustangs were all over Aberdeen from the start, jumping out to a 14-0 halftime lead. Moriah Snyder and Jordan Landsman led the scoring with three goals each. Snyder added one assist and Landsman had two. Aubrey Hoover (three assists), Taylor Marchetti (two assists), Catie Snee and Maria Snee each scored two goals.
Single goals were scored by Kristen White, Mackenzie Aponte (assist), Emily Garvin, Kendall Little (assist), Megan Murray, Graceann DiPeso (assist), Maggie Roscko, Georgia Beachley (assist) and Jillian Baldwin.
Mustangs goalie Katelyn Miller made three saves. CMW will play at Rising Sun on Friday at a time to be determined.
Hawks move on
North Harford built up an 8-0 first half lead en route to its win.
Maria Auth paced nine Hawks in the scoring column with four goals, while Lexi Susa and Hunter Meisz (assist) netted two goals each.
Single goals were scored by Maggie Holloway, Nicole Kress, McKenzie Cox, Claire Macatee (assist), Anna Racine and Sarah Schnieder (assist).
The Hawks also had assists from Molly Zardus, Erin Dean, Brenna Duley, Christina Coste and Rachel Ator.
Edgewood scoring was handled by Nicole Wiland, Paley Johnson and Gabby Burst, with a goal each.
North Harford goalie Kayleigh Sasdelli finished with three saves.
The Hawks will visit top seed Patapsco on Friday at a time to be determined.
Warriors advance, too
In Havre de Grace's win, Joppatowne scored first, less than a minute into the game. The Warriors, however, scored the next eight and the rout was on.
Kaley Harris scored the first Warriors goal and finished with three goals and two assists. Taylor Johnson led the scoring with six goals and two assists.
Rachel Wilson added four goals and three assists and Ashley Burkhardt had three goals and two assists.
Havre de Grace got single goals from Shawnee Mahan (three assists), Dachelle Johnson, Rileigh Cypher, Cierra Grant and Gracie Weeks.
Kelsie Davis scored twice for the Mariners and Rachel Kocsan added one goal.
In the Havre de Grace goal, Lauren Butler made two first-half saves and Caraline Cypher made two in the second half. Savannah Day had 11 saves for Joppatowne.
Havre de Grace will play at Fallston (8-6) on Friday at time to be determined.
Other game
Bel Air (7-4) is also alive in 3A-4A North, Section I play. The Bobcats, who had a first-round bye, play at Parkville on Friday at 3:45 p.m.
