Harford all-girls ice hockey team wins league championship

The 14U Harford North Stars all-girls ice hockey team from Harford County, based out of Ice World in Abingdon, won the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL) Playoff Championship in Frederick last weekend.

The CBHL is comprised of teams from Maryland and Virginia and this was the team’s second CBHL Championship in the last three years. They are the only team in the 20-year history of the Harford North Stars Youth Hockey organization to win the CBHL Championship.

The 14U Girls North Stars finished the CBHL regular season league play with a record of 15 wins, two losses and a tie. The team subsequently went undefeated in the CBHL playoffs.

In the CBHL Championship Game, the North Stars defeated the Tri-City Eagles by a final score of 7-5. Heather Reider, Claire DeSalvo and Charlotte Labre each had two goals in the championship game and Rylan Sachs added another.

The 14U Girls North Stars currently have an overall 2018-19 season record of 23-6-6 including winning the York Devils Thanksgiving Tournament and taking second place in the Pittsburg Three Rivers Tournament.

The 14U Girls North Stars have had a very successful season outscoring their opponents 146 to 56 in addition to outshooting their opposition 888 to 351, while posting nine shutouts and they still have one more tournament on their schedule.

The 14U Girls North Stars team is comprised of girls from Harford and Baltimore Counties ranging from the seventh to ninth grade.

Members of the team include Emmie Caulfield, Claire De Salvo, Guin Donovan, Morgan Kovacic, Charlotte Labre, Kylie Muscalino, Molly Re, Heather Reider, Michelle Reynoso, Ashley Richmond, Audrey Roberts, Rylan Sachs and Eva Schisler.

The team is coached by Cory Labre, Sean Bohen and former NHL player and Washington Capitals Hall of Fame member, Yvon Labre.
