Keeping its league record spotless in anticipation of Friday's showdown at Joppatowne, the C. Milton Wright boys basketball team overcame an one-point halftime deficit Wednesday to fend off visiting Aberdeen, 70-59, in UCBAC Chesapeake Division play.
Corey Bays pumped in 26 points to lead the Mustangs (9-0, 16-1), while Mychal Stefanides added 17 and Will Hazelton scored 13.
Bays also had six rebounds and Stefanides added seven assists and four steals.
Jaleel Gibson led the Eagles (5-6, 10-10) with 20 points, three steals and three assists. Jayden Saddler finished with 15 points, three steals and four assists.
CMW will visit Joppatowne on Friday at 6:45 p.m.
Rams beat Bobcats
Edgewood (4-6, 9-7) traveled to Bel Air (4-6, 7-12) Wednesday and returned with an 60-56 Chesapeake Division win.
Tyrone McKisset led the way for the Rams with a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds. Immanuel Gladden-Stokes added 19 points and Khalil Copes-Jones netted 12 points.
Tigers upset Cobras
Harford Tech (8-3, 12-7) saw its share of the Susquehanna Division lead slip away as the Cobras were beaten at Rising Sun, 61-60, Wednesday night.
The other two leaders, Havre de Grace and Perryville, are scheduled to meet Thursday.
