The regular season for boys basketball teams is now over and attention must turn to region playoffs which begins for all public school county teams tonight (Friday).
Leading the way, Havre de Grace will put its 20-0 record on the line at home with an opening round Class 1A East game against visiting Bo Manor (5-14). Game time is 7 p.m.
The Warriors beat the Eagles twice during the regular season. Scores were 67-43 and 71-54.
Patterson Mill (11-11) will play in 1A East today, visiting Colonel Richardson at 5:30 p.m.
Also in 1A East, Perryville (6-14) will play at Joppatowne (11-6) tonight at 6 p.m.
In Class 2A East, Fallston (2-20) will visit Rising Sun (4-10) at 5 p.m., while North Harford (8-12) will host North East (4-17) at 7 p.m.
In 3A North, Aberdeen (7-11) will play at Kenwood at 6 p.m. and Edgewood (6-12) will visit Bel Air (10-9) at 7 p.m.
C. Milton Wright (17-3) has a bye and will host the Aberdeen-Kenwood winner on Monday.
Tonight’s winners will advance to the next round scheduled for Monday. Losers are done for the season.
Patriots lose in first round
John Carroll (5-25) lost at Goretti, 79-52, Wednesday in the opening round of the Baltimore Catholic League tournament.
Tyson Commander scored 16 points to lead the Patriots. Jalen Bryant added 15 points and Jaiden Jakubowski netted 12.
HCS wins
In the first round of the Maryland Christian Schools Tournament, Harford Christian beat visiting Washington Christian Academy, 50-49 in overtime.
Houston Howell’s free throw in overtime gave the Eagles the lead and the win.
