Final regular season games are played on Tuesday

A handful of final regular season boys basketball games were on the schedule Tuesday and the county's best teams kept on winning.

At Bo Manor in UCBAC Susquehanna Division play, Havre de Grace (11-2, 18-3) added another win, beating the Eagles, 65-41.

Zayrron Blake's double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds led the Warriors. Kenneth Sumpter added 17 points and seven rebounds and Jordan Hawthorne had 12 points and nine assists.

Mariners edge Huskies

At Patterson Mill, the Chesapeake Division game was played at a slow tempo, with Joppatowne (10-2, 17-3) edging the Huskies (5-7, 8-11), 25-24.

Rashard Gore led Joppatowne with eight points and Huskie Qadir Ismail led all scorers with 10.

Mustangs finish perfect

C. Milton Wright (12-0, 19-1) closed out its perfect Chesapeake season with a 75-52 win over visiting Bel Air (4-8, 7-14).

Corey Bays scored 22 points and Mychal Stefanides added 20 for the Mustangs. Will Hazelton chipped in with 10 points.

Jahari Carmichael led Bel Air with 17 points and Kevin Morrissey added 10.

Cobras beat Tigers

Harford Tech (11-3, 15-7) defeated visiting Rising Sun, 62-49, in Susquehanna play. Tech led 30-23 at half.

Darius Dangerfield led the winners with 24 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and seven assists.Fred Gordon added 16 points and Hunter Norcross pulled down 17 rebounds.

Region playoffs

The open draw for region playoffs was held Tuesday and six teams will begin play today (Friday).

In Class 1A East, Havre de Grace will host St. Michael's at 6 p.m. Joppatowne drew a bye and awaits the Perryville-Colonel Richardson winner in Tuesday's quarterfinal round.

In 2A East, Fallston will play at Elkton at 6 p.m. Patterson Mill awaits the winner in Tuesday's round. Tech also has a bye and awaits the Rising Sun-North East winner.

In 3A North, Aberdeen will visit North Harford at 6:45 p.m., while Edgewood will host Bel Air at 6 p.m.

CMW awaits the Aberdeen-North Harford winner.

HCS wins championship

Harford Christian traveled to Granite Baptist in search of a third consecutive MACSAC Championship Monday.

HCS was able to make the game up-tempo from the start and won, 61-36, despite senior Sean Hughes picking up three early fouls in the first quarter. The rest of the Eagles stepped up to pick up the slack.

Freshman Rashawd Clowney and senior Paul Franco knocked down big shot after big shot in the first half, which allowed Harford Christian to go on a big run in the second quarter that was capped by Moe Epps' acrobatic reverse layup from the baseline. HCS took an 11-point lead into the break and never looked back.

HCS was spearheaded by a balanced scoring attack and tough pressure defense. Epps led the way with a quadruple-double of 10 points, 10 boards, 10 assists and 10 steals. Franco chipped in 15 points, nine rebounds and five steals.

Hughes added 14 points, eight rebounds and seven steals and Rashawn Clowney contributed 10 points, six rebounds and four steals. Rashawd Clowney finished with eight points, six rebounds and seven blocks.

After the game, Epps was recognized as Tournament MVP and first team all-conference. Hughes was awarded all-tournament as well as first team all-conference and league MVP. Franco rounded out the all-tournament team for HCS and was also given a second team all-conference nod. HCS completed the three-peat and improved to 22-8 on the year.
