With the UCBAC Chesapeake Division baseball championship under its belt, Patterson Mill ran its overall record to 16-3 Monday with a five-inning, 14-3, non-division win over visiting Aberdeen (12-7).
Two errors and two passed balls in the top of the first put the Eagles up, 3-0. The Huskies, however, had nine hits and nine runs in the bottom of the inning to seize control of the game.
The Huskies scored their other five runs in the third to induce the 10-run rule.
Eight players had at least one hit for Patterson Mill and eight had at least one RBI.
Leading the attack, Kyle Goudy went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Nick Cress was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs and Jacob Michael went 1-for-2, scored two runs and drove in two with a triple. Cooper Mattheu added two hits (triple) and an RBI.
Other Huskies with RBIs were Jordan Reid, Max Elliott, Eric Raley and Thomas Kragh.
David Fulp went 2-for-3 for Aberdeen and Anthony Cuellar was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Jake Sheesley pitched all five innings for the win, allowing three hits and walking two while striking out four.
Zach Thomas was dealt the loss for Aberdeen.
Hawks blank Mustangs
North Harford (7-7, 12-7) closed out Chesapeake play Monday with a 7-0 shutout of visiting C. Milton Wright (5-9, 6-11).
Senior Colin Bowling struck out eight in the win and added a single and triple at the plate. Junior Jordan Wax led the Hawks with a pair of singles and three RBIs. Kyle Munson also tripled in the win.
Andrew Schatz had a double for CMW, which was held to three hits. Danny Phillips took the loss.
HCS wins big
Harford Christian improved won 22-3 on Saturday over visiting Calvary Baptist. Senior Noah Akers got the win with six strikeouts over three innings of no-hit pitching.
Senior Ian Edwards, who recently signed his letter of intent to pitch for Dordt College, went 5-for-5 at the plate with four singles and a double. He drove in three, scored three and also stole a base.
Akers also contributed at the plate, reaching base five times via a double and four walks. Akers scored four runs and drove in another. Junior Chris Beirle also had a good game, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Jordan Tymes was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs.
The Eagles slipped to 7-2 Monday, falling to visiting Perryville, 6-3.
Huskies clinch division
Patterson Mill locked up the UCBAC Chesapeake Division baseball title Thursday night in Aberdeen.
The Huskies (12-1) defeated Harford Tech (3-11), 11-1, in six innings in division play at the Ripken Baseball Complex. The game was played on the all-turf Yankee Stadium with Tech celebrating Senior Night.
Austin Koehn scattered three hits over six innings, walking one, for his eighth win on the mound.
"This win tonight clinches the Chesapeake Division title, the first for a boys program at our school," Huskies coach Matt Roseland said. "This wasn't one of our early season goals, but I am really proud for what they have completed."
Ten of the Huskies games were decided by two runs or less.
"They found ways to win late and a lot has to do with their resilience and trust in one another," Roseland said. "It's a terrific group of young men to coach who have great team chemistry and pull for one another. They are a team first group and I'm thrilled they have something to show for it."
Nick Cress went 3-for-4 with an RBI, run scored and stolen base. Kyle Goudy added three walks, four stolen bases and four runs.
Jacob Michael and Jake Sheesley both tripled, scored a run and drove in a run.
Andrew Woods was 2-for-2 with a run scored for Tech and Devin Guido added a hit and RBI.
Bel Air wins on Senior day
Celebrating its seniors, Bel Air used three pitchers Thursday to shut out visiting Perry Hall, 2-0, in a non-league baseball game.
Senior starting pitcher Jack Jenkens (2 IP, 3 Ks), senior Luke Beyers (3.2 IP) and sophomore Cam Kalandros (1.1 IP, 2 Ks) combined on the four-hit shutout.
The Bobcats (13-3) got all the offense they needed in the second inning. Zack Radcliffe (2-for-3, run) started the rally with a single, but ended up at second on a throwing error. Senior catcher Michael Koski walked. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and senior Andrew Cotton (2-for-3) drove in both runners with a double.
