Congratulations to Water Witch fire, EMS honorees

It's a happy 50th birthday to the Water Witch EMS Unit redux!

Last week, following WWFC's annual award banquet on March 22, the awardees in the Ladies Auxiliary were reported.

This week, I want to congratulate the award-winning folks on the fire side and in the EMS unit. The 2013 EMS Provider of the Year goes to Maximillian R. Schulte Jr. The 2013 EMS Chief's Award went to Abigail G. Trzcinka. The 2013 Edward C. Starnes Memorial President's Award was given to Christopher D. Bannon (Claire Starnes of Sanbornville, N.H., was on hand for the presentation). The 2013 William I. Brannan Memorial Firefighter of the Year Award was earned by Austin N. Lipka. Dwayne W. Liverman was awarded the 2013 Michael O. Love Memorial Rookie of the Year. The 2013 Fire Chief's Awards were shared by Wayne L. tome Sr. and Anthony J. DiMauro Sr. Past Fire Chief Rodney Sentman was recognized for his 70 years of membership with the Water Witch Fire Company.

Much sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Sterling Rapposelli, Perryville, as he passed away last week.

The Knights of Columbus Council 2002 will again sponsor a Lenten Fish Fry today (Friday) at Good Shepherd School, 800 Aiken Ave., Perryville. Fish and shrimp dinners will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The combination dinner is our favorite!

The American Legion Post 194 Auxiliary, 338 E. Main St. in Rising Sun, sponsors monthly Friday night dinners on the third Friday of each month from January until May. Come out and enjoy a meal for $10 and support the fundraising activities of the Auxiliary.

Happy birthday to Michael Smith Jr., as he celebrated on March 30, while Sara Stanley enjoyed birthday greetings on March 31.

Mike Lowe, North Main Street, added a year to his age on April 1 and Jim Sice and his sister, Alice, celebrated birthdays on April 2.

Many happy returns of the day are sent out to Father John Abrahams, Abrahams Road, as he celebrates today, April 4.

Wayne Hill, chairman of the board of directors of the Bainbridge Museum, reminds everyone that the museum, at 6 S. Main St. in the historic Bank Building, is open year-round. The museum is centrally located in the town square, displays are updated regularly and admission is free. The museum opens each Saturday and Sunday from 1 until 5 p.m. and donations are gratefully accepted.

Good Shepherd Catholic School, 800 Aiken Ave., Perryville, will serve an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Sunday from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Breakfast for an adult will cost $7 and the varied menu is sure to please. Call the school, 410-642-6265, for additional info.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 8185 will sponsor a quarter auction at the post home, 520 Susquehanna River Road on Sunday. The doors will open at noon, lunch will be served at 1 p.m. and the auction will start at 2 p.m. The $10 ticket includes lunch and two paddles. Look for your favorite vendors such as Vera Bradley, Origami Owl, Tupperware, Snack Attack, 31 Bags and more. Call Anne, 410-378-3338, for information. Proceeds will benefit veterans programs.

Water Witch Fire Company's first chicken barbecue of the season will be held at Woodlawn Station on Saturday, April 12 starting at 1 p.m. The fire house is off Tome Highway and Abrahams Road. Enjoy!
