Community meeting set for Sept. 4 on Havre de Grace Library expansion

A community meeting is planned for next week to seek ideas and input from the public on the new Havre de Grace branch of Harford County Public Library.

Led by the building design team, the meeting will take place at the Havre de Grace Activity Center, 351 Lewis Lane, on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.

The planned rebuild of the Havre de Grace Library includes expanding the size of existing 26-year-old building at the corner of Union and Pennington avenues from 8,400 to about 15,000 square feet and adding a second floor.

Library officials said the groundbreaking will take place in late fall of 2014 if everything goes according to plan. While construction is in progress, the library system will rent space at another location in the city.
