First Fridays in downtown Havre de Grace is coming tonight (Friday), 5 to 9 p.m. Celebrate the colors of autumn with music, specials and entertainment. In conjunction, the Joseph L. Davis, Post 47, American Legion, 502 St. John St. will host a pavilion party, 5 to 8 p.m., with live music. Look for pit beef, pit ham and pit turkey, steamed shrimp and boardwalk fries on the menu. Yum.

Margaret Jones informed me about Saturday's Susquehanna Flats Classic calling contest to be held at the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Goose and duck callers will be competing for a spot in the World Calling Contest. Hunting and fishing suppliers and guide services will be selling and displaying their products. The Grace Place Serving Center will host a free, hot meal luncheon, Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 114 N. Union Ave., 410-939-2107, to anyone in need who enters. Please note that although Grace Place is a fun gathering place and social; its goal is to help people in need who would benefit from a free, hot meal and some freely provided groceries. Resources of Grace Place have been recently over-extended, so please limit attendance to those people in greatest need. Thanks.
