April 18 is the 103rd anniversary of the most destructive earthquake in U.S. history. The earthquake struck San Francisco at 5:12 a.m. on April 18, 1906; rupturing gas lines and igniting dozens of fires which united into the disaster's single largest blaze, reaching 20 stories high. Its temperature exceeded 2,000 degrees, hot enough to melt steel, and the fire burned for three days. When the last embers were out, five square miles had been incinerated; some 28,000 buildings destroyed and an estimated 3,000 people killed. This truly was a disaster of gigantic proportions.
Fair warning to all bosses! April 22 is Administrative Professional's Day (the old Secretary's Day) and April 20 to 25 is Administrative Professionals Week.
